【摘要】:Ruttedpavementsurfacesmayhaveanadverseinfluenceonvehiclehandlingcharacteristicsandmayimpedesurfacedrainage,whichmayreducefrictionpropertiesandcontributetohydroplaning.Ruttingindicatesdeformationorwearofmaterialsinthepavementandmaybeindicativeofproblemssuchasasphaltflow,consolidation,shear,orlossofpavementmaterials.Therut-depthvalueobtainedusingthistestmethodmaynotcorrelatewellwithvaluesobtainedusingothermethods.1.1Thistestmethoddescribestheprocedureforthemeasurementofthedepthoftherutatachosenlocationinapavementsurfaceusingastraightedgeandagage.1.2ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Withinthetext,theinch-poundunitsareshowninparentheses.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemarenotexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemmustbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnonconformancewiththespecification.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
