【摘要】:Thetechniquesdescribedprovidefortheindirectmeasurementofchangeinlengthofafastener.Suchmeasurementsaremadefromoneendofthespecimenwithoutrequiringaccesstotherearsurface.Theequipmentisfieldportableandshouldbeusedinthemannerprescribedbythemanufacturer.Commonusesincludemonitoringchangesinlengthoffastenersandasatoolforindustrialqualitycontrol.Currentapplicationsincludefastenersusedinturbines,petrochemicalpressurevessels,aircraft,automotivemanufacturing,generalboltingwithinthenuclearindustry,structuralsteelconnections,laboratorytesting,andsoforth.1.1Thispracticecoversaprocedureformeasuringchangesinlengthofthreadedfastenersusingconventionalultrasonicpulse-echobolt-measuringinstrumentationwhichhasbeenproperlycalibrated.1.2Thisprocedureisnormallyintendedformetalbolting0.25in.(6.4mm)ormoreinnominaldiameterwitheffectivelength-to-diameterratiosof2:1orgreater.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
